History Behind the Jordan 3
There are fewer sneakers more iconic than the the Nike Air Jordan 3. Originally released in 1988, the Air Jordan 3 was designed by legendary sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield and served as the sneaker Michael Jordan wore for this third Slam Dunk competition. Following this victory, the iconic Jumpman icon was born, as well as the beloved elephant print that has graced so many timeless iterations throughout the years. Having already designed the Air Max 1 and Air Trainer 1, Tinker Hatfield was viewed as the perfect choice for designing the 3rd Jordan silhouette and even spoke to Jordan himself about what he was looking for from his next signature silhouette, a task Hatfield more than delivered on. Jordan brand was not shy on the marketing campaign for the Air Jordan 3, adopting the help of a young Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon, who played a sneakerhead character in the 1986 movie “She’s Gotta Have It”. Implementing his character into the Jordan ads, he expressed a signature catchphrase “It’s gotta be the shoes” which without a doubt boosted the popularity of the silhouette and skyrocketed sales.

Much like the aforementioned AMM 3 and the recently released Air Jordan 4 Craft ‘Photon Dust’, the Nike Air Jordan 3 Craft Ivory flaunts a muted, neutral colour scheme, opting for a leather upper in a beautiful off-white finish.
