What’s the Story of Trophy Room?
Founded by Marcus Jordan, the son of legendary NBA player Michael Jordan, Trophy Room is a luxurious retailer inspired by the trophy room within the Jordan family residence. The room is centrally located within the home and has served as a central location for friends and family to gather throughout the years, often hosting celebrations such as Christmas and Thanksgiving. The aim of the room was to serve as inspiration to Michael’s achievements and motivate his children to chase their own dreams and include their victories amongst his. For Marcus, this led to the birth of Trophy Room, with the store’s décor aimed to replicate the warmth of the Jordan family trophy room and paying homage to Michael's NBA career with authenticated memorabilia on display and offerings of footwear and apparel that will serve as trophies to the customers that walk through the door. Having collaborated on the Jordan 1 Retro High Trophy Room Chicago in 2021, it is now time for the low-top iteration to drop, dubbed the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG x Trophy Room “Rookie Card – Away”. Which Details Stand Out?
The inspiration behind the Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG x Trophy Room “Rookie Card – Away” stems from the trading card culture that was so prevalent throughout the 80s and 90s, with the colourway of the low-top inspired by the 1986 Fleer rookie card. Clearly inspired by the Chicago Bulls heritage, the collaborative model sports a combination of red, black, and white, whilst pops of yellow represent the yellow border on the card. The special details include Michael Jordan’s insignia stitched into the black woven heel and the Trophy Room emblem appearing on the forefoot atop the red satin finish. The infamous wings branding on the heel provides a luxurious finish that ties in well with the ethos of Trophy Rooms premium retail space. The pair is complete with a special-edition box and multiple sets of laces, as well as launching alongside a special short-film produced specifically for the launch.
