Perhaps one of the most anticipated releases of the year, the Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 “Pine Green” is the first iteration of the 4 silhouette that takes on a construction built purposely for skating. At first glance they appear like any other Jordan 4 release, but upon deeper inspection it’s evident these are built to stand the test of time and the various failed ollie attempts they will witness.
The changes are subtle but effective, with the overall shape of the shoe reconstructed to match that of the original 1989 model to offer an improved overall fit. The infamous “wings” have been reimagined with the use of a rubber compound, built to be more durable and more responsive to wear and tear. The tongue features extra padding to provide better comfort for those long skate sessions, as well as a stripped-down forefoot intended on assisting wearers achieve a better sense of control on the board. The heels feature “Nike SB” branding and gum outsoles offer a classic look as well as guaranteed grip perfect for a full day at the skatepark.
Setting aside the improved fit and construction, the most important part is the aesthetic. The “Pine Green” colourway is sure to be a future classic, dressed in a white leather upper and neutral grey mudguard, whilst pine green accents provide a nice pop and give the shoe a vintage feel.
